Mike and I had the most wonderful opportunity of a weekend for two in Downtown Seattle. We flew into Seattle with Emily as she was spending the weekend over there. Once we landed we took a taxi (what a ride) into Downtown Seattle and checked into our hotel. We stayed at the new LEED certified Olive 8. It was a very modern hotel which is a different style for us. We are more opulent...not in real life but in our pretend get away life! It was a wonderfully clean, crisp and fancy place! However the real purpose to our trip was to eat our way through Pike Place Market! We had agreed that we would eat only local food (thanks Barbara Kingsolver). Note: I didn't say organic,
and when I say local I mean it had to be made in front of us, look like it came off of a farm (raspberries in May?) and it couldn't be fancy. So we started our vacation by joining Taryn and Craig at the Alibi Room (http://www.seattlealibi.com/). This place is a hole in the wall that serves pizza with dough made daily and ingredients from the Market. It is set in the Post Alley where you can find the Bubble Gum Alley! We had the brushetta, a bottle of Chianti, a four cheese and a pine and swine pizza. We followed this up by sharing a slice of Key Lime pie and a chocolate cannoli. Not a bad start huh?
Craig and Taryn dropped us of at our hotel and we had our first peaceful night in our starched, clean, king-sized bed!
