How to Navigate Yourself and Your Family Through a Difficult Economy

I just read a really good article by Dave Kahle titled "How to Navigate Yourself and Your Family Through a Difficult Economy," and the following are some of his suggestions.

  • Shore up your income stream. If you have a job, keep it. If you don't, work hard at getting one.
  • Take the attitude that your are grateful to be employed and work hard at being a good employee.
  • Make yourself more valuable. Take on a task that other don't want or won't learn.
  • Expand your network. You never know when someone you help could help you.
  • Harness all the resources of your household for the benefit of the household. Everyone, regardless of age, can pitch in.
  • Change your lifestyle and reduce your cost of living. Eat out less. Stop living on credit cards. Create a budget and stick to it. Save something out of every dollar of income. (Easily said, but when done really helps out!)
  • Finally, get yourself right with God. This may seem strange but consider this; when you are living a stress-free lifestyle and charging everything, it's easy to focus on things and not on Him. When you find yourself up against real adversity, you naturally seek Him. Seek Him now.
